The Revolution started here, and it never left.
Boston has been leading the nation toward freedom for over 250 years. Our legacy comes not only from well-known patriot figures like Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, and John Hancock, who advocated for political power and self-governance, but also from Bostonians like Belinda Sutton, Phillis Wheatley, and Prince Hall, who fought for an even more essential freedom: freedom from slavery. We inherit a legacy of moral and physical courage, sacrifice, and perseverance.
Add your reflections on Boston’s enduring spirit of resistance here, and see them illuminate Old North Church’s bell tower on 4/22 at 8:00pm.
