Nobody’s Free until Everybody’s Free
The Juneteenth Flag was first flown here in Boston — in Roxbury Heritage State Park, to be specific. Created by Ben Haith (also known as Boston Ben) the flag was first raised in a ceremony in this park in 2000. Boston Ben also founded the National Juneteenth Celebration Foundation. The work of remembering, celebrating, and advocating for freedom continues, and we are all inheritors of that work. Nobody’s free until everybody’s free.
