These are Intolerable Acts.
In the 1770s, the Intolerable Acts were economic threats aimed at trade and intended to cripple us into submission. Once again we find ourselves faced with intolerable actions that sow division and threaten our prosperity, happiness, safety, and freedom. Like the Intolerable Acts before, the actions of this administration will hurt our local economies and everyday Americans.
Bostonians took to the harbor to make their feelings known; they destroyed the tariffed goods on December 16, 1773 in an event known as the Boston Tea Party. Boston wouldn’t stand for tyrannical overreach in the 1770s and we won’t stand for it now.
In response to the Boston Tea Party, George Washington said, “the cause of Boston now is and ever will be considered as the cause of America.” The cause of Boston now is and always will be to oppose tyranny and champion liberty. We have a good track record.
