Dear friends,

The Silence Dogood Project was sparked last year when Border Czar Tom Homan threatened to “bring hell to Boston.” Tyrants have tried to bring hell to Boston before, and the result was resistance, which became a revolution, which became a new world order. So we responded to the administration’s threat with a reminder of our history in the form of a projection onto the Old State House, the site of the Boston Massacre on its 255th anniversary.

With over 20 activations in 10 months, we have been tapping into Boston’s legacy of resistance to reanimate the very sites that witnessed the first acts of American dissent.

Moving into this year of commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence, our work is evolving…

Support from the Promises of the Revolution grant from Mass Humanities has enabled us to expand our work beyond guerrilla style projections into events that can gather community and foster conversation. Inspired by the New England tradition of town hall meetings, we are creating our own version to meet this moment.

Over the coming year we will be convening three events in the same buildings that have hosted these vital civic conversations for generations.

Each event will pair a historian with an expert from the ACLU to discuss how everything we are experiencing today has historic precent, and how that can inspire hope and action.

Attendees will be able to contribute thoughts, questions, and insights, with each town hall culminating in a communally derived statement. The statements will be projected back onto the building as a finale.
